This natural dye kit includes a long pre-hemmed piece of undyed linen, plus all the ingredients, tools, and instructions you'll need to dye it using pigments from plants! You could use your finished piece as a scarf, wall hanging, table runner, etc! All 4 edges will be hemmed/finished (leave a note at checkout if you prefer them left raw instead).
"Cutch" is an extract from the acacia tree.
The Cutch Dye Kit includes:
• 1 fabric rectangle (18x74") undyed, in 100% linen (pre-softened, OEKO-TEX certified)
• Detailed PDF instruction manual (including binding and knotting techniques)
• Cutch extract (enough for full saturation)
• Soda ash for scouring (pre-washing) the fabric
• Iron sulfate for color modification (salmon pink to dusty mauve)
• Wooden spoon
• Wooden stirring sticks
• Recyclable paper cups
• Rubber gloves
All ingredients are safe to be around, but should not be consumed!
Other supplies you will need:
- (1) large cooking pot
- (1) if using the iron sulfate to shift from pink to dusty mauve, you'll need a container that can hold at least 1 gallon of liquid (old coffee tub, milk jug with the top cut off, large Tupperware, bucket, etc... but NOT something you will re-use for food prep).
Time required:
The dyeing process can be completed within a few hours in a single day, or spread out across multiple days.

Garment Care Instructions:
Hand-wash your fabric thoroughly after dyeing. Then, it can be machine-washed with cold water and tumble-dried on low heat. I prefer to wear it wrinkly, but you can always get a more crisp look by ironing it with high heat and lots of steam!
